Introducing the Lightsview Residential Parking Permit System

Lightsview (SA 5085) is proud to be selected as the pilot suburb for South Australia's innovative new residential parking permit system. As our community continues to grow and thrive, we're taking proactive steps to address the increasing demand for street parking while ensuring residents have convenient access to parking near their homes.

Why Lightsview?

Our vibrant suburb has been chosen to pioneer this state-wide initiative due to our strong community spirit and forward-thinking approach to urban planning. Like many modern suburban developments, Lightsview consists primarily of houses, townhouses, and units that feature a single car garage or designated parking space and the majority of streets through out lightsview you will find the no parking solid yellow lines. With many households owning multiple vehicles, additional cars naturally require on-street parking, creating increased demand for available street spaces.

Over the past couple of months, we conducted a comprehensive study to gather detailed parking information and information gathered from previous years to help and better understand the specific challenges facing our community. This research has provided valuable insights into parking patterns, peak demand times, and resident needs, helping us design a system that truly addresses Lightsview unique circumstances and removes itself from a system of fines and parking infringement revenue, which has created significant financial problems for some family's that were never given the knowledge or made aware until they received infringements. Our study found that on one lightsview street alone three families had generated a combined total of $23,000 dollars in infringements. So we are changing to a system that helps our neighbours ,makes our community safer, happier, and a suburb to enjoy being a part of.

 

The insights and feedback gathered from our pilot program will help shape parking solutions across South Australia, making Lightsview a true leader in residential parking management for communities facing similar parking challenges.

 What This Means for Residents?

The new parking permit system is designed to:

-Prioritize resident parking by ensuring locals have preferred access to street parking in their immediate neighborhood
- Reduce parking congestion during peak times and busy periods
- Create a fairer system that balances the needs of residents, visitors, and local businesses
- is mprove parking availability outside homes where families need it most

- to use funds from the permit system towards parking areas for visitors ,workers etc.

This pilot program represents our commitment to creating practical solutions for real community challenges. We'll be working closely with residents throughout the implementation process to ensure the system works effectively for everyone in Lightsview.

 

Registration Now Open

We encourage all residents to begin registering immediately to help make the system launch as smooth as possible. Registration forms will be delivered to all households over the next couple of days.

**Important:** All completed registration forms must be filled out and submitted between now and 12th July 2025.

 

Permit Types Available

Fixed Permit or standard permit- Can only be used on one specific vehicle
Transferable Permit - Can be used on multiple vehicles (perfect for households with more than one car but no more than two). If more than two vehicle require a permit then please request another registration form.
